The Barcelona City Council has implemented police, administrative and social actions to reinforce security in the area of the seafront and the Olympic Port. These measures have been agreed jointly with the Guardia Urbana and the Mossos d’Esquadra, the districts of Ciutat Vella and Sant Martí and the operators of the Olympic Port.

Specifically, the presence of the two police forces on the Paseo Marítim has been increased and surveillance has been reinforced in nightlife venues, so that they comply with the schedules, the noise regulations … A stand has also been installed in the area anti-macho to inform, sensitize and assist citizens in relation to sexual harassment and assault. This action is accompanied by a coordinated action protocol between the Urban Guard, the Mossos d’Esquadra, the health services and the municipal care services.

In the short term, more video surveillance cameras will be installed in the area and the illumination of dark spots will be improved . In order to develop medium and long-term actions, starting in September the Barcelona City Council will create two working groups, one to study future improvements to the seafront, and the other on the comprehensive approach to nightlife venues in the Olympic Port.
